At East Coast Security Systems, we provide quality security systems to help keep your family, your co-workers, and your clients safe at your home and businesses. However, we understand that for many, pets are just as much a part of the family as the rest of its members. So, we thought we’d provide our valued customers with some general pet safety tips from Reader’s Digest Canada:

  • When you have pets, it’s always important to be aware of the weather. If it’s going to be an especially hot or cold day, it’s a good idea to keep your pets indoors. If you have cats, be mindful that on cold days, cats sometimes hide under cars to keep warm. So, check underneath your car before driving anywhere.
  • Make sure that your pet has plenty of water when you leave for the day. This may even mean that you need to sit out two bowls of water for them, depending on how long you will be gone and how much they usually drink.
  • Put away hazardous items, such as household cleaning products, small toys, cigarette butts, and electrical cords. Pets will get into almost anything, so even something that seems harmless could cause them harm if they attempt to chew it. This also means that you should be mindful of the types of plants you keep in your home– so be sure to make sure your house plants aren’t poisonous to animals before you sit them out around the house.
